Basak Ozer Independent Board Member
A serial entrepreneur, Basak has been a founding member / early executive of four disruptive start-ups which made exits with a combined value of over $15B, led historic advancements in sustainability, shared transportation systems, and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Her passion for making mobility accessible and equitable, led her to drive innovation through autonomy, electrification, HD maps, IoT, sensors, and generative AI.
Basak is the founder and CEO of Spica, an advisory firm in Mobility and Sustainability, working with start-ups, industry leaders, and investment firms globally in achieving optimal product / market fit and creating unique investment opportunities.
Previously, Basak was Chief Product and Design Leader at Motional, an autonomous car industry leader, originally founded out of MIT, followed with $4B investments from Hyundai and Aptiv. Before Motional, Basak drove product / market fit, and R&D priorities at Tele Atlas, a Dutch HD Maps leader, the company that led the widespread consumer adoption of digital maps and was acquired by TomTom; Quattro Wireless, leading ad platform and data company acquired by Apple; and Here Maps, Berlin based HD Maps leader, acquired by BMW / Audi Automotive Consortium.
Basak started her career at Honeywell where she also ran a sensor business powering critical applications in home and building sustainability, automotive, and aerospace control systems.
